Mermaid Santa Ana All Porcelain Swimming Pool & Spa
The Santa Ana Mermaid Pool is hand painted glazed ceramic porcelain tile. All art element edges are hand cut. The background tile is 2x2 inch cobalt glazed porcelain mosaic from National Pool Tile. The lap pool is 50 long by 8 feet wide. The spa is 8 feet. Measurements: Mermaid – 26 feet, Waterflowers - 5.5 feet and 2.5 feet, seaweed - 6 to 7 feet, coral – 5 feet, spa starfish – 10 and 12 inches, spa seaweed - 16 inches. Before installation the layout was drawn onto the pool bottom. All seaweed stems were hand drawn and filled in with tile. After installation of the art, the background tile was installed and cut to fit around each piece. Location: Private Residence, Santa Ana, California. Custom art and murals by Agape Tile. A mural of this type is created today by creating the original artwork, scanning the art on a flat bed scanner and creating a ceramic decal that is high fired in a ceramic kiln. This process is UV Proof and Frostproof as the base tile is porcelain.
